	1. Do I need to know Japanese to apply?

	Not always, especially for some graduate programs in English. But having a basic grasp of Japanese and a willingness to learn is a big plus. If you&#39;re applying for an undergraduate scholarship, they usually throw in a prep year for Japanese.

	2. Is the MEXT Scholarship really fully funded?&nbsp; 

	Yes, it&rsquo;s one of the best fully-funded scholarships out there. It covers tuition, living expenses, and round-trip airfare.

	3. Can I apply if I&#39;m still studying?

	Absolutely! If you&#39;re in your last year of your current degree, you can apply. Just make sure to get a Hope Certificate from your university, showing your expected graduation date and your transcripts.

	4. Is there an age limit for all programs?

	Yeah, there are age limits for most categories. For undergraduates, it&rsquo;s usually under 25, and for graduate or research programs, it&rsquo;s generally under 35.

	5. What are my chances of getting selected?

	Getting the MEXT Scholarship is pretty competitive because of its full funding and reputation. Having a good academic record, a clear research plan (for grad students), performing well in the exam and interview, and showing motivation to study in Japan can really boost your chances.

	For folks from Pakistan, it&#39;s best to apply through the Embassy of Japan there (Embassy Recommendation). Some universities might have a University Recommendation option, but that&#39;s less common for first-timers outside Japan and usually needs prior contact with the school.

	7. Do I need IELTS/TOEFL for MEXT?&nbsp; 

	For the Embassy application, you often don&rsquo;t need IELTS/TOEFL if you studied in English before. But having a solid score can help your application stand out. Some specific programs or schools might ask for it, though.

	8. What kind of research plan should I have for graduate programs?

	A clear and detailed research plan is essential. It should describe your topic, background, goals, methods, and what you expect to achieve. Plus, it should show how your research fits with what potential supervisors in Japan are doing.

	9. What happens after the first screening?&nbsp; 

	If you pass the first screening (written test and interview), the Embassy will recommend you to MEXT. You&#39;ll probably need to reach out to Japanese universities to get a Letter of Provisional Acceptance, which is super important for the final selection.

	10. Can I work part-time in Japan with a MEXT Scholarship? 

	Yes! Even though the scholarship gives you a nice stipend, international students with a student visa can typically work up to 28 hours a week during school and full-time during holidays, as long as you get permission from immigration. Just remember, your studies should come first.
