FAQs

1. Can I get a Bachelor's degree scholarship from DAAD?

Usually, DAAD scholarships for international students, like those from Pakistan, are mainly for Master's, PhD, and research stuff. There aren't many DAAD scholarships just for Bachelor's degrees.

2. Do I have to have work experience to get a DAAD scholarship?

Not always, but some programs want it, especially the Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS). They usually want you to have at least two years of work experience after you get your Bachelor's. Just make sure to look at what the program you're interested in requires.

3. Do I need to be accepted to a German university before I apply for the scholarship?

Often, yeah. For a lot of DAAD scholarships, mostly for Master's and PhD programs, you have to apply to a German university and get in first. But for some programs, like EPOS, you apply straight to the university, and they pick you for the DAAD scholarship. The order of things is different for each scholarship, so read the instructions.

4. What's the lowest IELTS score I can have?

Usually, you need a 6.0 or 6.5, but it depends on the program and the university. Check what your course wants.

5. When do I need to apply?

It's different for every program. For Master's programs, the deadline could be from July to November for the next school year. For PhD programs, it's often around August. Check the DAAD scholarship info early.

6. Where can I get more help in Pakistan?

The DAAD Information Centre in Islamabad is the best place to go. They can give you advice and support.
