As an international student, if you want to stay in the U.S, think of the factors that can help you choosing your majors.

In U.S there are a large number of international students that come to different countries of the world but they have no idea of their study selection. The graduation in the U.S is of 4 years and most of the students don’t know what they want to study over this course of 4 years. Some students switch their majors in the mid of their studies, most probably after two years.

In order to make a definite decision regarding choosing a major, the students are required to follow the following steps

Ask Yourself First

You must be satisfied with your decision if you really want to stay in the U.S after the completion of your graduation. You must know the reason why you want to stay there after your studies are complete. Some students want to work there and earn money to pay off what they have spent on their education. The students that usually start working in the field they have taken education include engineering, science and technology etc. The demand of these fields is high in U.S. and many companies are looking for the skilled persons in these fields. The students must not consider their future salaries. They should consider their choice and mind. So it is better one should ask his self what he likes and what he dislikes.

Determine You Capabilities

You must determine your capabilities academically before you choose your majors. For this, you can review the score of your SAT exams as well as your transcript in order to know in which subjects you have more capability. A good score in any particular subject means you can take that subject as a major in your graduation. Though, this is not a very strong tool, but it can help you in making a good decision about your majors. Most of the students have the problem that they follow the crowd without understanding their own capabilities. They see a particular major has more important and is more popular, they choose it no matter they are interested in it or not.

Talk To Your Parents

Many of the students don’t like discussing with their parents because they think the parents are not aware of the U.S education system. But discussing with the parents is beneficial to the extent that they know their children and their choices. You always need a right advice from anyone and parents are always there to give you the right advice

Talk To Other Students

Discussions with senior students can also give you a good idea of choosing your majors. The seniors have more experience and better know about the scope of the subjects, the market so they can guide you well in choosing the majors. They can also give you perspective reviews of all the majors you are confused in selecting. You can benefit from their experience and knowledge.

These tips can help the students in selecting majors in graduation.
