Description

The trend of education in new generation of Pakistan is decreasing day by day. Only a year ago, in 2012, only 21% people were educated and 79% were illiterate. The difference between these two figures in 21th century is astonishing as well as tragic.

According to the report of UN agency UNESCO, Pakistan is at 180th position in 221 countries list of world in the sense of literacy rate.

In term of age, the people of between 55 to 64 years have literacy rate about 57%, while youth of age between 15 to 24 years have literacy rate about 72%. This shows that study graph is triggered. Those who educate their selves they are educated, now the study trend in new generation is low.

It is amazing that Pakistan is above to Afghanistan and Bangladesh in literacy rate of South Asia, while China, Iran, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Burma are also more than Pakistan in literacy rate.

In 2012, 7 million students were going to school and colleges in which 2.6 million students of primary school, 2.9 million of secondary school and 1.5 million were enrolled colleges or universities. This means that with the passage of time the trend of higher education is gradually reduced.

Only 3% student can attend college after school study and it also reduce at the time of university and approach to 1%. This is really alarming for us toward nation building.
Pakistan's official news agency Associated Press of Pakistan quoted the same report released by UNESCO with some more facts & figures details of which goes something like this:

Nationwide, 75% boys and girls left study before completing their Matric.

81% students cannot read English.

Three to five years of age students, 72% from Sindh and 78% from Baluchistan do not go to school.

During the survey an English article was given to students of 5th and 6th class for reading. The shocking fact says that 94% students of sixth class and 68% students of fifth class cannot read this article.

Islam has made education compulsory for every men and women but 5.1 million children are deprived of basic education.
