Approximately 25,000 Pakistani students have studied in America over the last five years. The US task in Pakistan approves nearly 100 percent of the qualified, lawful student visas applications. In 2012, 41.5 per cent of the Pakistani students in the United States were studying in the field of science, engineering,technology and mathematics. All student applicants, while subject to usual visa processing and clearance requirements, are offered timely and respectful service.<o:p />
The US government actively promotes and supports joint student exchange. The US mission in Pakistan supports the world’s major exchange program, sending over 1,000 Pakistanis on totally funded US educational programs every year. The US Fulbright scholarships program in Pakistan is the world’s major and one of the oldest. Since 1951, 4,000 of Pakistan’s most talented students have chased advanced studies in the United States on this program and since 2005, the top fields have been in science,specifically, energy, water and agriculture.<o:p />
In addition, the US, through USAID, has offered scholarships to more than 12,000 for low-income Pakistani students to go and attend the college here in Pakistan. USAID is investing over $127 million for &nbsp;the next 5 years on three university-to-university partnerships in energy, agriculture and water to endorse applied scientific research and eight other programs to create connection between academic institutions in the US and Pakistan.<o:p />
USAID is also construct or rehabilitating over 850 schools, constructing 17 faculties of education buildings on public university campuses and introducing new education degree programs at 90 teacher colleges and universities. From side to side these programs, millions of Pakistani students will be excellent prepared to compete in the global effort and contribute to Pakistan’s development.<o:p />
