Description

The Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Canada, Marco E. L. Mendicino has recently announced further measures to support international students. These measures say that international students won’t miss out on the chance to get a work permit after completing their graduation. International students who are studying online from their home countries will still have an opportunity to apply for the Canadaian post-graduate work permit, PGWP. Before this, Canada had announced some measures to support international students in 2020, however, after taking views on the current situation these measures have been extended or expanded.

International Students Contribution To Canada

During the academic year 2018 to 2019, almost 318,153 international students were enrolled in different universities in Canada. Every year, it comes to see that the number of international students is rising incredibly. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, IRCC has declared that $21 billion is the contribution of international students to the economy of Canada. However, the Covid-19 brought international students into several myriad challenges. But, at the same time, the government of Canada has taken several measures to assist international students under this terrible situation and the changes in the Canadian Post Graduate Work Permit rules are one of these positive actions taken by the Canadian Government.

Who Is Eligible For PGWP?

Students under the following categories will be considered for the new measures of the Canadian post-graduate work permit:

Students who are enrolled in a PGWP eligible program will be considered for this opportunity.

Students who have started or will start their study program between spring 2020 and fall 2021 or those whose program was already in progress in March 2020 are eligible.

Students having the study permit, or having approval for the study permit, or applied for a study permit before starting their program, or whose permit was eventually approved before starting their study program are eligible.

Students have to meet all other prescribed basic PGWP requirements to be eligible.

Objective Of PGWP

The main objective to offer Canadian PGWP is to bring more professionals to Canada to offer them exceptional career opportunities as well as to support the aged community of Canada. In 1971, there were 6.6 people calculated to work for each senior citizen. Currently, 03 Canadian workers are selected for each Canadian retired. However, it is projected that by 2035, only 02 workers will be selected for every senior. In this way, the younger Canadians will end up paying more to offer the same benefits to the retirees.

Apply For Study In Canada In 2021

All Pakistani students who have an eye on Canada to start their higher education journey are informed that Canada is still a good option for higher education. The study and post-study benefits Canada is offering to international students are adequate to offer them good career prospects. Students who are ready to start their study in Canada but are not so familiar with the application process are invited by Studyabroad.pk to get the complete consultancy on how to start applications for study in Canada.
