Description

Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, which will be used against the Coronavirus, will be available for international students at the beginning of 2021. Michelle Donelan, the country’s universities minister confirmed that in relation to Covid-19 no charges will be applied in testing and treatment of the Coronavirus.

Availability Of The Vaccine

On December 2nd, 2020, it was said by the Department of Health and Social Care that the vaccine will be available throughout the UK. The priority groups will be entertained with the vaccine within a week after the final approval from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. The priority groups are included in care home residents and staff, people over 80 years of age, and health and care workers. However, then the rest of the population will be eligible to get vaccines including the people who are clinically extremely vulnerable.

Almost 40 million doses have now been ordered which is enough amount for up to a third of the population of the country. However, it is anticipated that the majority of the doses will be available in the first half of 2021. The UK government has also revealed that it has secured 357 million doses of vaccines from several vaccine developers.

Vaccine Availability For International Students

However, the authority has also announced that the international students who are older in age and underlying medical conditions will also fall into priority categories. Matt Hancock, Health and Social Care Secretary said that the proper availability of vaccines along with the effective treatment will make Covid-19 a manageable disease and this will also bring the life in a normal condition near in the future.

Michelle Donelan while writing an open letter thanks the international students for their patience and support during this pandemic. However, she has also expressed the commitment to support the international students in this harsh situation of the pandemic. In the letter the universities minister Michelle Donelan added her words that whatever your current situation is i.e. are you studying online from your home or are you planning to start on-campus studies in the future, you will have proper support and guidance from the UK government.

Recommendations For International Students

Donelan said that the government of the UK advises international students to return to UK universities under the suggested period staggered over five weeks. It is saying that the students with the practical courses will return at first. Students will be staggered over two weeks from the normal starting date (from January 4th, 2021) of their study session or term.

It is said that the students with the remaining study programs and courses should be offered online classes at first and they can continue their studies from their home country. However, students should be asked to return to their universities over two weeks from January 25th, 2021.

Final Thoughts

The availability of the corona vaccine is a hope to start a normal life again. However, in order to compete with the diseases completely, everyone must take effective measures along with the availability of the vaccine. However, under the support and guidance from the UK government students are advised to restart their admission application process and for complete consultancy regarding admissions in the UK, students are invited to clear all of their ambiguities through Studyabroad.pk.
