Description

A survey was taken by Universities UK International, UUKI and IDP in 2020 which reveals that 81% of international students are happy with their decision to start their 2020 session of study in the UK, despite Pandemic, Covid-19. On a scale of 1 to 10 students have rated their happiness at 06 or above. The happiness from the international students in the UK is higher than other biggest study abroad destinations such as Australia and Canada. The impressive speed of UK higher education institutes in shifting the study into the online mode of education and adaptations in several other changes due to Covid-19 were noticed by England’s’ Students’ Office.

Nicola Dandridge, the Chief Executive of OfS said that the impacts of the pandemic on the international students have been specifically considered by the organization. However, during the pandemic, the reports of harassment and hate crime towards the students have also been pointed.

Survey On International Students

The recent survey has taken from the 783 international students who are currently involved in higher education in the UK, US, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. The overall satisfaction rate in 6.4 out of 10. The desire to study in the US is on top in the survey where the rate of satisfaction was calculated at 7.5 out of 10. However, it was also calculated that the sample size in the US is relatively small because of only 41 respondents. The UK comes under the 2nd position with an overall satisfaction report that was calculated as 7.1 out of 10. However, the satisfaction rate of Study in Australia and study in Canada was calculated as 6 and 6.2 respectively.

Out of the 182 international students from the UK, around 30% of students said that they were provided with any special non-academic support in the current year. However, out of 326 international students in Canada, 52% said the same, at the same time, out of 222 international students in the higher education institutes of Australia 40% of respondents have responded with the same answer.

Reasons For Positive Response

The research and reports have shown that there are several reasons for the satisfaction and happiness of international students in the UK. For example, it came to see that students were satisfied with the flexible starting dates, quarantine support, mental and physical health support from the higher education institutes in the UK.

Sir Michael Barber, Chair of OfS, said that within a month more progress was made by the colleges and the universities in the UK than the progress of the last five years. The earlier survey that was taken in June 2020 revealed that 77% of international students preferred quarantine. On the other hand, rather than defer 92% of respondents preferred to quarantine in the UK during the survey taken in October 2020. The Chair of OfS has also revealed that a review will also be taken on the digital mode of learning at the beginning of 2021.

Prepare Your Study Application For the UK

From the discussed surveys it is concluded that the UK is still a favorite study abroad destination, despite the pandemic, Covid-19. However, the UK is also supporting international students at the same time. So, students, who are still looking forward to applying for Study in the UK are suggested that, rather than putting off, they have to start their application for study in the UK.
