Description

Recently, the United States embossed a new immigration policy for international students. The policy states that international students are not allowed to stay in the USA if their institutes are going to arrange online classes for them under the influence of the Pandemic, Covid-19. There are more than 8000 Pakistani students are currently enrolled in the USA for higher education in several universities. But at the same time, immigration comes with a new hybrid clause policy that could be helpful for the international students, said by Muqtadar Khan, an international student studying master studies at the University of Ohio.

What Hybrid Clause Policy Is

The policy states that if a student takes even one class in-person with their institutes in the USA then they are allowed to stay in the USA. Khan said to the media that when the students first heard the new policy about leaving the country then it brought all the students in a panic situation. But, when students came to know about the detail of the policy including Hybrid Clause Policy then the situation was quite normal. He further told to media that even the institutes that have no option of in-person classes previously they are revamping their policies due to pandemic and the new decision.

AFP said that a number of schools in the USA are looking for a hybrid model of online and in-person courses, but some universities are saying that all the classes will be conducted online and Harvard University is one of them.

Another Student Zarak, who is presently residing in Pakistan said that he is not able to go back to the USA for the upcoming semester because his courses are online. He further said that if he would try to taking class in-person he is not able to do so because it will cross his credit limit. He also added that he is in the last semester and if he would not be able to get in-person class then because of visa expiration he would not be able to go back.

He further said that taking online classes is difficult because of the huge difference in the time zone. Moreover, due to extra-curricular activities and part-time job activities, it has become difficult to take online classes. Khan also agreed with the reviews of Zarak and said that the things like teaching methods, practical exposures, laboratories, and employment opportunities at abroad are unmatched

Trumps’ Decision Is Criticizing

Donald Trump’s decision for a new policy is immensely criticized on the global front. According to the Institute of International Education, more than one million students enrolled in US universities for the 2018-19 academic year. The largest international students source is China and then students from India, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and China are also enrolled in US Universities.

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, the worker at the American Immigration Council, working as the policy counsel stated that the new rule is “almost certainly going to be challenged in court.”
