	The Schoenberg Institute for Manuscript Studies at the University of Pennsylvania Libraries is opening up applications for its 2025&ndash;2026 Visiting Research Fellowship program. This fellowship is well-regarded and supports research in premodern manuscript studies, letting scholars work with the University&#39;s vast collections and digital projects.</p>

	About SIMS</h2>
<p>
	SIMS was started by Lawrence J. Schoenberg and Barbara Brizdle Schoenberg. It&#39;s well known across the globe for researching and preserving the history of manuscripts using modern tech and teamwork from different fields.</p>
<p>
	Located at the University of Pennsylvania, SIMS takes care of a large collection of old manuscripts, especially those related to the history of science and philosophy. Besides the physical items, they offer a bunch of online tools and resources like:</p>

	Eligibility Criteria</h2>
<p>
	To qualify for this fellowship, you should:</p>
<ul>
	<li>
		Live outside the greater Philadelphia area</li>
	<li>
		Have a Ph.D. or a similar degree by the start of the fellowship</li>
	<li>
		Show a solid link between your project and the manuscripts at Penn Libraries</li>
	<li>
		Be an independent researcher or academic who has a good track record (collaborative projects are fine too)</li>
	<li>
		If you don&rsquo;t have your Ph.D. when applying, you&rsquo;ll need a letter from your dissertation advisor confirming you&rsquo;ll finish by the start date of the fellowship.</li>
